We have a full year of celebrations, events, commemorations, and just plain fun as we mark our history as a school and as a community. Harvest Festival on October 4 to benefit Centenary celebration

Harvest Festival, October 4

Did you know that Richmond Elementary School opened its doors in 1908 and is the oldest PPS school structure that is still in use as a school today? Yes, it's true; 2008 marks Richmond's 100th year in operation. We will be having a variety of events throughout the year to celebrate this milestone, and our very first event will be the Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 4, from 11:00am – 3:00pm.

Scheduled events for the Harvest Festival (may be subject to change):

Richmond Entrance Plan by Sadafumi Uchiyama 11:30 - 12:45 Lecture: "What is the Japanese Garden?" by Sada Uchiyama
Tour and Discussion of the Japanese Teaching Garden to follow
$10.00 fee; all proceeds benefit the Japanese Teaching Garden.

Bring a sack lunch! There will also be a limited number organic bento boxes for sale, as well as a cider press for fresh apple cider and an All-Things-Pumpkin Bake Sale. Proceeds from the bake sale benefit the Learning Garden. We will also have commemorative T-shirts and mugs for sale.

Need helpers to celebrate Richmond's 100th Year Anniversary!

If you love to take PHOTOS, we need your help! The 100 year anniversary committee is planning to create 100th year special 2008-2009 photo book by the end of May 2009.

These items will be available at Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 4 also. There is a limited quantity of items, so come early to get what you like. Checks should be made payable to Richmond PTA.

Items available include the following:

** Youth XL is about the same size of Adult S. (Youth XL has slightly smaller neck but is slightly wider than Adult S.)

Any two items will be sold for $15.
