Students in the library

Library news, May

All library books are due beginning May 18. If you have lost your book, please contact Sara Tam for a replacement price. Thank you for returning your books on time.

Richmond's Library is open to all students, teachers, staff, and parents. Students come to the library once each week with their class to check out and return books, listen to a story or learn a new skill. Students are able to choose their own books in our library assisted by a staff of dedicated volunteer parents. We feel that reading and a strong literature-based program are important to a child's education and that our library is an excellent support for the classroom reading program.

Parents may donate a book or magazine subscription to the library, for example, on a child's birthday. The book will be stamped with the child's name and catalogued into our collection for all students to read and enjoy. See Mrs. Cummings if you need an idea for an appropriate book to purchase.

Students are responsible for returning their own books each week.

Library Update

The library is now open to classes. Many thanks to the more than 25 volunteers who keep the library running, check books in and out (by hand!), and read to the children. Regarding checkout, each student will take home one book at a time. We hope to increase this number for the older grades, which will depend on the efficiency of our checkout system. Also, please help to remind your child to return his/her book each week on their library day. We do not recommend dropping books off in the library, as the library is used by several different groups and it is easy for returned books to get misplaced. Thank you for your understanding and patience! If you have any questions, contact Sara Tam at 503-335-3135.
